Titanium Dioxide

Titanium Dioxide

Titanium Dioxide is a natural mineral that is used in most cosmetics and skincare as a sunscreen. It helps to protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays. Titanium Dioxide is gentle and is therefore suitable for sensitive and redness prone skin. It is a sunscreen that is used for skin with high skin sensitivity.

Titanium Dioxide is often called a physical sunscreen, as it sits on top of the skin. It reflects sunrays away like a ‘mirror’. Titanium dioxide needs to be broken down to smaller particles to be used in cosmetic products. This also allows the ingredient to be easier applied to skin, because it would otherwise be like a ‘thick’ paste. Micronized Titanium dioxide is also more stable and will provide a better sun protection. Micronized Titanium dioxide doesn’t absorb into the skin, which means it can’t get into your body unless it is ingested. This also applies to, if nanoparticles are used, as the molecular size is too large to penetrate through the top layers of the skin. This means that you will be getting a good sun protection with no risk of it causing any harm to your skin or body.
